The citizens have expressed their preparedness in words and in deeds through diverse awareness creation efforts, clean-up exercises, series of consultations, brainstorming sessions and such likes throughout the week.

In an interview with Hon. Kofi Adjei, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Berekum Municipality, which has given birth to the District, Wednesday, he affirmed the preparedness of various departments of the Municipal Assembly and the indigenous people towards the inaugural ceremony and beyond.

He stated that all hands were on deck to ensure that the district would not only witness a successful celebration but would also witness a speedy infrastructural developmental drive in the subsequent years.

On his part, Nana Baffour Asare Tutu, Chief of Jinijini, was upbeat Wednesday when he stated emphatically that the town was virtually 'electrified' as the people braced themselves up for true independence, adding; "We have been in slavery for donkey years. We have now been given the true independence. Now, our savior is born, as we meet him joyfully tomorrow."

He was enthused about the fact that the autonomy gained by the Berekum West District would facilitate the development of the district through Agriculture, which is the main occupation of the people, and the mainstay of the national economy.

Mr Gyamfi Adu Kumanin, immediate past Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Berekum Municipality, emphasized that all was duly set for the smooth take off of the activities of the Assembly, as the new District Coordinating Director (DCD) was standing by with the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (BA-RCC) overseeing activities for a substantive District Chief Executive (DCE) to be appointed by the president pending confirmation from members of the Assembly.

He said temporary measures would be put in place to restructure the Berekum West District Assembly (BWDA) whilst some assets belonging to the existing Berekum Municipal Assembly (BMA) might be shared for the temporary routine activities of the new Assembly to rage on smoothly.
