Berekum East Assembly support PWDS

The Berekum East Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region yesterday disbursed the second phase of the 3% Disability Fund from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

The items worth over GHs 49, 000.00 was shared to 32 Persons living with disability (PWD’s) in the municipality.

Presenting the items which include 4 double-door fridges, sewing and knitting machines, 3 packets of roofing sheets and nails, 2 brand new laptops, 3 table top fridges, wheel chair, start up trading materials, goats for rearing and other items to the beneficiaries, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Berekum, Mr. Kofi Adjei explained that the disbursement forms part of government initiatives to support the physically challenged in the country.

The MCE encouraged them to make good use of the items they have received.

Mr Adu Gyamfi one of the beneficiaries who received a brand new laptop explained that, though he is a physically challenged but as a tutor at Berekum PRESEC, the laptop will help him to program all his lessons and make teaching easy as a blind man.

He advised his colleagues to make the best out of themselves and stop begging for alms.
