The situation is no different in the Okaikwei Municipal Assembly that has some major drains passing through it.
As a major channel that carries water to the sea, residents have had their fair share of destruction and inconveniences.
But the Municipal Chief Executive Christian Tetteh Badger has allayed the fear of residents as hope is on the way.
He assured residents of measures underway to ensure safer water flows without raking havoc to lives and properties as some major drains in the municipality are already under construction under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project.
The contractor, he said has been sluggish with the work resulting in the delay for its completion.
“They are doing a good job; but the contractors are a bit too slow and sluggish creating disaffection for the end result of the project which we envisaged should have been a blessing to the people, so it is about time they expedite action to bring the needed relief to the people”, he added.

However, he said he has met with the consultants both at the regional and district levels to appeal to them to speed up the project while ensuring value for money especially roads that they have to asphalt should be attended to because most of those roads have started developing potholes and gullies to the detriment of road users and the communities.
He explained that the GARID project which is focusing on drains would also see new culverts, bridges, and roads constructed in Alogboshie, Akweteyman, Nii Boy Town, and Kisseman which are beneficiaries of the GARID project in the Municipality.
“They are taking the project from Ga West Municipality through Kisseman; and that bridge between Christian Village and Paraku Estate would also be fixed correcting the defects that result in regular flooding around that place”.
HE affirmed that drawings have been done for the remaining areas, and what is left is for the contractors to get to site and the necessary road diversions created for the start.
