Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on telephone on Thursday, he said the Soboba District Assembly, in conjunction with development partners, had so far undertaken 62 projects covering such areas as education, health, water and sanitation and energy structures.
Mr Adorf said the District had sponsored scores of students in tertiary institutions such as nursing institutions, teacher training colleges, universities and polytechnics.
“We are sponsoring 200 students in all the institutions,” he said, adding that students were given a stipend every semester.
Students in nursing training had GH¢ 200 each, teacher trainees had GH¢ 150 each, while university and polytechnic students had GH¢60.
Mr Adorf said all the students in nursing and teacher trainee institutions were being assisted by the District Assembly with the condition that they would return to the District and serve for three years upon completion of their courses.
“The National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) and Zoom Lion, a sanitation company, have employed twice as many youth in the District and this has reduced unemployment drastically in the area,” he said.
The DCE thanked NGOs in the District, especially World Vision and School for Life, for their massive support and contribution to the development of the area and appealed to other NGOs to come to the aid of the District.
He also appealed to the people of the area to exercise patience and give their maximum support to President John Evans Atta Mills, the Member of
Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Joselph Nikpe Bukari, and the District Assembly to deliver on promises made to the people of the area.
“I am appealing to you to stay away from statements that have the tendency to distract the Government, MP, and the District Assembly from planning for the District’s development,” Mr Adorf said.
