She said the Assembly has set agriculture, health and education as its priority areas, adding that a chunk of its budgetary allocation has been directed to these sectors.

The DCE, who was speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, noted that the Assembly’s objective was to encourage the youth and women to engage in productive ventures that will improve their livelihoods.

She further stated that government revolutionary agriculture programme “Planting for Food and Jobs” will be critical in the fight against hunger and poverty in the district and the country as a whole.

The DCE therefore called on the implementers to focus on growing more nutritional foods to ensure quality nutrition among citizens in the area.
The DCE said the development and empowerment of unskilled youth was of great concern to the NPP government since the youth were the future leaders of the country.

She urged the business community and other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to help provide skilled training to people in the deprived communities in the district.
