Assembly holds town hall meeting
The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly organized a town hall meeting at Asokore, a suburb of the municipality.

The forum was held with the theme: “Good Governance; The Role of Stakeholders”. The meeting was also part of Government’s policy of bringing local governance to the doorstep of the citizenry.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Edward Asante Antwi in his address showcased the numerous projects undertaken by the Assembly and the ones that were yet to be completed.
He stressed that, despite the novelty of the assembly, they are trying their very best to set the Municipality on a good developmental ladder.
He urged everyone that his doors were opened for any form of complaints and suggestions when the need be.
Mr. Alhaji. Muntala Alhassan, the Municipal Finance Officer in his presentation listed a number of infrastructural developmental Projects by the Assembly.
These includes building schools, health Administration office, Chip compounds, roads, mechanized boreholes, an Astro Turf park and renovations of some selected buildings.
He explained that the total amount of money received from the Central Government for the year 2023 and its expenditure included staff salaries.
He stressed that new measures are being put in place to aid the effective collection of revenue in 2024.
ISSUES RAISED
Madam Gloria Serwah a resident in Asokore reported on the poor constructions of gutters in the community which causes flooding whenever there is a heavy downpour.
Queen mother of Asokore, Nana Amah Awi, raised an issue on how the Assembly gives out permit for building and the need to educate the general public extensively on the acquisition of lands for housing projects.
A native from Dabiasem asked for security post in their vicinity, due to frequent theft in that particular community.
Bishop Daniel Kwasi Frimpong asked about the right channel to use for the payment of property rate and also talked about the new bills given out to residents recently.
Madam Janet Boadu, a nurse at Asokore alleged that, there is a wall being constructed that has encroached the road reducing the original size of the road
A Unit Committee member, Mr. Akrofi asked the Assembly to try as much as possible to fix all deplorable roads in the Municipality since it is a great concern to the people of Asokoreman.
Finally, Miss Benedicta Boamah, urged the Assembly to frequently organize such meetings to give the citizenry the opportunity to interact with the Assembly.
RESPONSES
Reacting to the concerns raised by residents, the Municipal Chief Executive assured citizens of the assembly working around the clock to solve problems raised.
He also said the Engineers will come around to check all the gutters to examine the situations for onward address of the issue.
The Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Ndinga Nborinyi assured the community members that the Assembly will have the fence inspected for further actions.
He explained that there will be more Town hall meetings organized within all the communities to strengthen the mutual understanding between the Assembly and the citizenry.
