EJURA: 23 farmers recognized for their hard work
Alhaji Rufai, the overall municipal best farmer for the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly has been rewarded alongside 22 other farmers for their contributions in feeding the citizens in the municipality.

For his prize, Alhaji Rufai received a tricycle (Motor King), spraying machine, cutlasses, among others as well as certificate.
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Mohammed Salisu Bamba urged farmers to attach much importance to their farms treating it as a major business.
According to him, government has seen the potential of the agriculture sector and is making everything possible to make agriculture a prestigious business with the hope of ensuring food security, and creating jobs for the teaming youth.
He said the introduction of initiatives like;
1. "Planting for Food and Jobs" where beneficiary farmers are provided with;
• Quality Seed
• Subsidized Fertilizer
• Enhanced Extension Service Delivery
• Market Access
• E-Agriculture, and
2. One District, One Factory; which are all aimed at supporting farmers, boost productivity, and create sustained avenues for income generation and invariable lead to the growth in the national economy.
On the theme for the celebration: "Farming for Food and Jobs", the MCE noted that the government’s programs on job creation or wealth creation, can only be achieved through conscious and innovative interventions in agriculture; thus farming must be looked at beyond subsistence and the necessary business models are deployed.
He said government has realized this hence efforts at modernizing the sector and making available extension officers who can offer quality and effective advice to help the farmers.
He thus called on the youth in particular to avail themselves and take advantage of the interventions to improve their living conditions.
