Mayor of Accra inspects land earmarked for 1D1F project

The Chief Executive of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Elizabeth K.T Sackey has inspected a parcel of land in the city earmarked for the construction of a factory to produce mattresses and roofing sheets under the government's One District One Factory (1D1F) Project.

The parcel of land situated within the Ashiedu-Keteke Sub-Metropolitan District was donated by the Chiefs of the Ga State towards the government’s “One District One Factory” initiative.

Speaking after the inspection, Mayor Sackey expressed her gratitude to the Chiefs and people of the Ga State for gifting the land and said the factory when completed would provide employment for the youth in the city and its environs.
The first female Mayor of Accra who was accompanied by the Metro Coordinating Director for the AMA, Mr Douglas N.K Annoful, said the project which is a private-public partnership would boost economic activities, bring development and create jobs in the city.

She added that the area was noted for producing metal trunks, a popular modern storage solution among Ghanaian students adding that, the intervention would rekindle the spirit of hard work among the youth. She disclosed that as part of the project, the investor would refurbish the Ashiedu-Keteke Sub Metropolitan District Council Office.

The Mayor who later visited the trunk manufacturers, outlined plans by the Assembly to bring all of them together and assured them of expanding their businesses with the aim of creating more jobs for the community and its environs.
