All but one of the 30 members of the Assembly were present for the inauguration.

The AMA Assembly consists of 20 elected members and 10 government appointees.

But just before the members took their oaths of office, one of the Government Appointees, Henry Nii Lamptey Plunch's eligibility was challenged for being a staff of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. Not even an explanation from the Metropolitan Coordinator Director to the effect that he was on leave pending his retirement was enough to allow the process to continue, hence Mr. Plunch was asked to step aside before the inauguration was carried out.

He would however be sworn in after he is cleared, the MCD assured.

The swearing in was administered by Her Honour Justice Susana Aduffo, a representative of the Chief Justice.

Meanwhile, the nationwide inauguration of Assemblies is taking place in 259 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies except for two who tenure is yet to expire.
