One village, one dam begins in Jirapa Municipal
The Jirapa Municipal Assembly in the Upper West Region has handed over a site at Zakpayiri community for contractor to begin construction of dam under the government flagship programme "One Village, One Dam policy".

The project is expected to officially commence very soon by Dreams Construction Limited, a Ghanaian construction company.
Handing over the site to the contractor at Zakpayiri community, Mrs Christian Bonbanve Amadu, the Municipal Chief Executive disclosed that, this project would help farmers in the municipality to undertake agriculture activities throughout the year.
She said the project was targeted at ensuring food security, reducing extreme poverty, particularly among rural folks through the production and cultivation of commercial food crops and rearing of farms animals as well as curbing urban migration during the dry season.
Mrs. Amadu who said Agriculture is the backbone of the county's economy urged the people to develop more interest in farming and added that the project would also offer farmers the avenue to earn extra income to complement their routine earnings to improve their livelihoods.
The Municipal Chief Executive asked the contractor to fulfill their promise by completing the projects on time and asked the community members to make good use of the dam when complete to realise its purpose.
The chief and the people of Zakpayiri community applauded the MCE and her team for their selfless service that secured dam for the community and they also appealed to the MCE to facilitate the securing of the other development projects like school and chip compound for the community.
The project is under the auspices of the Ministry of Special Development Initiative.
