The move forms part of efforts to boost cashew cultivation in the area.

Speaking at a short presentation ceremony, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Madam Christine Bonbanve Amadu disclosed that, Jirapa municipality was among seventy-eight Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) selected for the cultivation of cashew in commercial quantity.

She noted that, the Assembly has acquired vast acres of land to support the farmers who will be registered and enrolled onto the programme.

Madam Amadu thus encouraged interested farmers to register with the Agriculture department of the Assembly in order  to access the free seedlings.

The MCE concluded by advising residents of the area, especially the youth, to take advantage of the programme and venture into farming to help sustain themselves and their families.
