GNPC Foundation, NACOC train teachers in STMA

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation, together with the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), has organized a training workshop for 20 teachers drawn from some selected schools in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis (STMA) in the Western region.

The training was aimed at building their capacity in the management of drug use and abuse amongst students.

The workshop also offered a platform for skills and knowledge sharing on drugs classifications, social stigma, Counseling and documentation.

In his presentation, Nana Otuo Siribuo, an officer at the GNPC Foundation, bemoaned the increasing trend of drug abuse among students and non-working populace within STMA and backed NACOC and the Foundation’s efforts to curb the menace.

He reminded the teachers of their responsibilities as not just educators but also the foremost shapers of character.

He expressed his optimism that with such interventions, the Municipality would win the war against illicit drug use.
