MCE commissions modern toilet facility at Jirapa SHS

The Municipal Chief Executive of Jirapa, Madam Christine Bonbanye has commissioned a modern toilet facility at Jirapa Senior High School in the Upper West Region.

Speaking at the ceremony to officially commission the project, the MCE laments how the Jirapa SHS has been in the need of toilet facility for some years now.

She added that this toilet facility is part of President Nana Addo and NPP government’s share of the national cake to the school to avoid open defecation.

Madam Christine appealed to the management and students to maintain the facility and keep it neat always.

She indicated that the modern toilet facility will save the female students from infectious diseases which were common during her time in school due to the nature of the sanitation of the pit latrines.

The modern toilet facility has been equipped with a mechanized borehole with overhead water tank system to supply water for the water closets and cleaning up of the place.

The headteacher also acknowledged the support of donor organization under the SIP Secondary cities project. He cautioned and educated the students on the proper use of the facility which included the use of sanitary papers and flushing and cleaning regularly after use.
