Geology

The Ahafo Ano South District is underlain by the Birimian formation which is predominantly phyllite and schist with granitic intrusions. Other parts, however, fall within the Voltaian.

The district is endowed with economic minerals such as gold, bauxite, and manganese. As government plans to initiate community mining activities in the district, it is envisaged that Emiral Resources will also commence actual mining in the foreseeable future.
