NPP Gov't Committed to ICT Education - Tarkwa-Nsuaem MCE assures

The Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, Hon Gilbert Ken Asmah has handed over fifty (50) desk top computers to seven(7) Schools within the catchment areas of Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine.

"The geographical location of a child should not limit them in education, specifically Information Communication Technology, ICT". In this age of technological advancement, teaching and learning had become more effective and understandable with the use of computers. Hon Gilbert Asmah said he and the MP Hon Duker(who was absent due to Parliamentary duties), believed ICT enhanced the conducting of academic research both at school and outside the classroom thereby improving upon the academic performance of pupils and students in this era of modernity. 



The Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government is highly committed to the teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology, ICT thus the inclusion of the digitise Ghana as one of the modules in the Nation Builders Corps initiative aimed at addressing the unemployment canker amongst the youth in Ghana, he stressed. 



He commended the sponsors of the computers, Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem through its community Trust Fund for the kind gesture to the beneficiary schools as part of their  Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at
enhancing the teaching and learning of ICT in schools. He noted that Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Community Trust Fund  had taken cognisance of lack of computers in some of the schools in the communities carefully selected the beneficiary schools with the hope of addressing the issue, he added. 



He further pledged his unflinching support on his behalf and that of the MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Hon George Mireku Duker to Anglogold Ashanti in all endeavours to foster more developmental projects and initiatives as such. "The MP would have loved to be here but an equally important assignment has taken him elsewhere" he observed. 

Mr. Jasper Mousadaizwa, The Managing Director of Anglogold Ashanti who presented the computers to the MCE noted that it was the hope  of Anglogold Iduapriem Community Trust Fund that it would serve all ICT deprived schools within which they operate and this he believes will go a long way to help the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology, he said. 

Mr Charles Nuamah, HRM of the Municipal Education Directorate representing  Mr. Alex K. Duah, Municipal Director of Education, who received the computers on behalf of the seven beneficiary schools expressed immense gratitude to Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Community Trust Fund for the kind gesture. "The donation was timely since many of the schools were battling with lack of  computers or had just one or two dysfunctional computers," he mentioned. 

He further pledged their commitment to ensuring effective monitoring and strict security so as to avoid theft and regular maintenance culture, he observed. 

The beneficiary schools included Bankyim M/A, Wangarakurom-Badukrom M/A, Akyempim M/A, Abomponiso M/A, New Techiman M/A, Terberebie M/A and New Tokunaso Early Childhood Development Centre basic schools.
