Tarkwa Senior High Girls Dormitory Block Commissioned

Mr. Benjamin Kessie, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly led the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, with the MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency and deputy minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. George Mireku Duker commissioned a one-store girls dormitory block for the Tarkwa Senior High School.

The dormitory which has a capacity to accommodate about 400 students was constructed with funding from GetFund at the cost of GHC 1,296,000.00.

This project was part of the government’s infrastructure expansion in Senior High Schools to eliminate the Double Track System under the Free Senior High Policy implemented in 2017.





The team commissioned and handed over the facility to the school on 5th November, 2021 with a mini durbar held by the school to climax the event.

Handing over the dormitory,
the MCE admonished the student body to ensure proper use of the infrastructure and cultivate the culture of maintenance.

He assured the school of a continue support by the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly to enable it attain its academic standards. He added that with the support of the Member of Parliament, all unfinished projects will be completed.

Hon. George Mireku Duker promised to support science students with books and also award each participant of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) with laptops if they are able to proceed to the semi-finals. A surprise gift will also be given to any student who excel with all A’s in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The headmaster of the school, Mr. George Oduro expressed his gratitude towards the team’s immense support and promised the facility would be taken good care of.
