KWAHU S: Assembly improves revenue mobilization

The Kwahu South District Assembly is said to have collected a total of GHs 399,196.90, representing 79 percent of the estimated GHs 502,020.00 of its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) for the year 2017.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Atta Ofori, announced this at the Assembly’s Third Ordinary Meeting held at Mpraeso, the district’s capital. He stated that the Assembly increased its IGF by 17.26 percent as compared to the year 2016.

In his keynote address, the DCE lauded the revenue collection department of the assembly for the working tirelessly to improve the assembly’s revenue base. He said despite the significant improvement, there was still more room for improvement since most of the rate payers are yet to honored their responsibilities.

He assured that, management will soon be coming out with a more comprehensive and pragmatic strategy in boosting revenue collection of the Assembly. 

In a related development,the DCE has disclosed that, the Akufo-Addo led administration is ready to set up a factory as part its flagship One-district One-factory initiative in the area. He noted that, Assembly has identified banana  and onion as first and second choice products respectively to be submitted for consideration under the 1D1F  initiative.

He was optimistic that, current deliberations with regards to one of the recommended products to feed the factory with raw materials on the proposed factory will soon conclude to enable its commencement.
