The donation forms part of efforts by the government to promote digital literacy and improve access to ICT education in schools across the country.
The computers were presented to the beneficiary schools by the Bono East Regional Minister, Kwesi Adu Gyan, on behalf of the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation.
Speaking at the presentation, Mr Adu Gyan stressed the importance of embracing digitalisation, describing it as a critical tool for improving service delivery and education.
“We must use digitalisation as a tool to improve Internally Generated Funds (IGF). We must use digitalisation for customer service, and that should be our priority. ICT is now an essential tool for education. There must also be judicious use of scarce resources to ensure efficient service delivery to our people,” he said.
The Sene West District Director of Education, Isaac Amankwa, who received the computers on behalf of the beneficiary schools, expressed appreciation to the government for the gesture.
He said the computers had come at an opportune time and would be used for their intended purpose of improving ICT teaching and learning in the schools.
Meanwhile, the Benkumhene of the Dwan Traditional Area, Nana Agyei Sarpong, appealed to the Regional Minister to urge the contractor working on the Atebubu-Kwame Danso road to expedite work on the project.
According to him, the poor condition of the road had created security challenges, with criminal gangs allegedly taking advantage of the situation to attack motorists and travellers who ply the route.
