Afram Plains North District MoFA gets 14 Motorbikes

The District Chief Executive for the Kwahu Afram Plains North District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Samuel Kena has handed over about 14 motorbikes to the District Director of the Department of Agriculture on behalf of the Government of Ghana.

The motorbikes which is to enhance effective monitoring and also response to emergencies of agricultural related issues in the District was received by Mr. Ebenezer Azidoku the District Director of Agriculture at the forecourt of the Agric department at the District Assembly in Donkorkrom.

The DCE hinted that government has considered agriculture as the backbone and fulcrum for national development hence the need to make it attractive to it employees.

According to the DCE, "through the Canadian Support Program which is Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana (MAG), government has secured brand new Nissan Pick-ups for all the MMDAs which Kwahu Afram Plains North is not exception will duly benefit".


He said, upon assumption of office, the Akufo Addo government has introduced several agricultural intervention and policies such as Planting for food and jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, One-District One-Factory, One-District One-Warehouse among others to improve food production and positively transform the economy .

Government has again recruited over 2000 Agric Extension Agents of which our enviable Municipality has received ten of these well trained officers.

The District Agric Department through its capacity building and effective delivery of the extension officers, the department has organized training for its staff on new extension modules under the Technical Education Department of Modernized Agric in Ghana (TEDMAG).

The District Chief Executive also admonished the beneficiaries to use the bike for the intended purpose and also conduct routine and proper maintenance at designated mechanic shops to ensure proper functioning of the motorbike. He again called on them to as a matter of urgency secure a professional ridding training to make sure they can ride without killing themselves if they lack one, and to make sure they acquire valid DVLA license to ride, avoid drinking to ride.
