Keta Tidal Waves: PM calls for completion of Sea defence project

According to him the hope of seeing the sea defence works in the remaining communities in the Keta Municipality and some others in the Ketu South Municipality known to be prone to effects of tidal waves was dashed when Amandi Company Limited left the area since ending of January this year.

Though Mr. Sefe could not tell why the company left, he said completion of the defence work could have solved or minimized havocs visited on these communities by the tidal waves.

A number of communities in the Keta Municipality including Kpoveme, Akplortorkor, Kedzi, Vodza, Hove and Fuveme suffered varied degrees of destructions as a result of the tidal waves last Sunday rendering a number of people homeless and many properties destroyed.

The PM said external help is seriously needed for victims of last Sunday’s tidal waves destructions since the Assembly is cash trapped and may not be able to meet the needs of the affected people.

He is however hopeful that the Regional Minister’s visit with the National Disaster Management Organization will lead to some assistance coming in to help cushion the victims in these difficult times.
