The event, which was held in the Kintampo Municipality as part of this year’s International Youth Day celebration, was under the theme: “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a world for all ages.”

The colorful programme brought together all youth groups in the Municipality as they exhibited their products after acquiring training under the Municipal Youth develop programme.

In his address, the Bono East Regional Director of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Samson Gbolu, expressed his satisfaction on the number of youth groups that were present at the programme.

He said Ghana’s recent 2021 population and housing Census revealed that 70% of the population falls within the youth category, adding that 19% of them are unemployed.

According to him, the gender inequity gap among the youth in Ghana calls for a collective action to bridge this gap through participation in local and national policy formulation, intervention design and implementation.

He added that the Youth Parliament in the area is a prototype of Ghana’s national Parliament that provides a platform for youth at various levels in order for them to participate in socio-political decision making processes of our nation.

“As such , as youth, we should have the right to demand for greater inclusion, but one of the surest ways for inclusion and participation is through entrepreneurship that is designed and managed by we the youth”, he stated.

He added that the youth should showcase their sense of patriotism by being responsible and also volunteering part of their time in solving community problems through profit-oriented and social entrepreneurship approaches.

“We are fortunate to have state mandated institutions like the National Youth Authority and other allied government of Ghana agencies, creating the enabling environment and facilitating youth development activities in our country”, adding that the youth must therefore grab the opportunity to help turn their lives around.

The Chief Executive (MCE) of Kintampo Municipal Assembly Mr. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw, on his part, expressed his gratitude to the organizers of this all-important programme and selecting Kintampo Municipality the host.

Mr. Baffoe asked all stakeholders, Nananom and most especially the youth of Kintampo Municipality to serve as agents of development to help improve the municipality.

He also asked the youth to take advantage of various government flagship programmes to enrich themselves.
