Adentan municipal assembly holds forum for youth clubs

The first ever youth forum aimed at equipping, sensitizing and facilitating the proper organizational involvement and performance of youth clubs in the Adentan Community was held on Wednesday.

The forum, organized by the Adentan Municipal Assembly National Youth Authority (NYA), discussed the advancement of the 25 youth clubs in the Municipality.

Speaking on the theme:"Enhancing Young People to Positive Thinking and the Nation", Mrs Evelyn Enyonam Ahlija, the Municipal Youth Coordinator, said it was realized the youth were ignorant about NYA and its mandate.

She said the youth had mistaken it to be a political institution, so we thought it wise to organize this forum to educate, train and equip them with the necessary basics they needed to know about NYA.

Mrs Ahlija said apart from the training, the groups would also be given knowledge on leadership skills to enable them take up challenges.

Mr Bright Asare, Regional Director, NYA, explained that the objectives for the establishment of NYA were to see to the developmental progress of the youth by providing relevant and conducive environment.

He noted that in Ghana, the youth were defined as people between the ages of 15 and 35 years living in rural and urban areas, adolescent and adults, physically challenged and able-bodied, in-school and out-of-school, organized and unorganized as well as skilled and unskilled.

Mr Asare said since the formal sector was choked and unemployment was engulfing the country, the youth should take the initiative of going into agriculture, and other informal services.

Mr Gabriel Dari, Municipal Coordinating Director, observed that the youth are the future of every nation and their issues needed to be made paramount.

He appealed to the youth not to make social conditions overcome their situations and rather make use of all opportunities.
