He said: "The let-us-wait on the fence till our political party wins power for us to put in our best system being practiced by some officials must give way to positive thinking now".

Mr. Benin who was addressing members of the Lambussie Karni District Assembly during its inauguration at Lambussie over the weekend recently, said some prudent governments' development policies and programmes had suffered deficiencies, and sometimes thrown overboard by those officials who felt they did not belong to the ruling government.

That attitude, he said must be avoided because it was thwarting the development efforts of governments and denying the people the opportunities to improve on their economies and livelihoods to overcome poverty.

He said the government expected the assembly members to advance the socio-economic development of the people through collective hard work and dedication.

He advised members to place the supreme interest of the assembly far above any other consideration.

Mr. Benin appealed to the members to show some sense of maturity and co-operate to improve on the living conditions of the people they represented.

The 34- member house elected Mr. Issaka Sagito, a Development Consultant, as its Presiding Member. He polled 23 votes to beat Mr. Zuobog Philip, a teacher who also polled 10 votes.

Mr. Sagito said the district needed human and economic resources to fast track its development and appealed to members of the assembly to remain united to in the pursuit of development.

Naa Seidu Braimah, a Member of Council of State, who inaugurated the assembly, urged them to be development oriented and avoid partisan politics, which has the potential of dividing them.
