The Municipal Director for NCCE, Mr. Joseph Oduro-Buabeng tasked the congregations to show interest in local government by participating in the district level election. He said to him that this is the most important election that can help them to see development in their areas.
He said those elected during district elections are people that are closer to them and know their needs much better than Members of Parliament or the President who are far away from them. He said they should elect people who understand the concept of the Local Government concept and can lobby for development through the Assembly.
He again admonished women to participate not only by voting but by making themselves available to be elected to the Assembly. He stated that Article 248 of the 1992 Constitution prevents political parties from sponsoring or supporting candidates who are seeking election to the Assembly and tasked the people to report such political parties that go contrary to this Constitutional provision to the Electoral Commission.
The churches engaged were Peace Baptist Church,Assemblies of God (Central), Christ Apostolic Church, Christian Hope Ministry and International Central Gospel Church all in Duayaw Nkwanta.
