This was revealed in the sessional address delivered by the municipal chief executive, Hon Thomas Appiah Kubi at the first ordinary meeting of the first session of the fourth assembly held on Tuesday 24th April 2018 at the assembly hall of the Mampong assembly.

According to the Chief Executive, a proposed committee which was set up had met and after a series of meetings with major stakeholders, recommended the adoption of Sunday as the second market day for the municipality.

“The committee has been tasked to brief the Queen Mother and enquire from her the needed rituals to be performed before the actual implementation could start”, Mr. Appiah Kubi noted.

Wednesday’s market at Mampong municipality serves Mampong Township and a number of communities within the municipality, traders from Nsuta district, Ejura municipal and some parts of Kumasi. Major trading activities take place every Wednesday at the market serving as a huge source of revenue for the municipal assembly.

He also hinted that remedial classes for senior high re-sitters had already started with three (3) centres at Nana Opoku Agyemang Senior High Technical in Apaah, St Monica’s Experimental Junior High in Mampong and Ebenezer Unique International School in Kofiase and regretted the situation where targeted students were not patronizing the classes.
