The Centre established in 1974, had since its inception operating without laboratory equipments a situation which hampered the delivery of quality health care to the people in the area.

At a short ceremony to hand over the equipments to the management of the facility, the District Chief Executive for Atiwa, Mr. Kwabena Panin Nkansah said the donation which cost GHS 16,000 formed part of the NPP government resolve and commitment to resource the health sector and bring quality and accessible health care to the citizenry.

He therefore entreated the people to patronize the centre for them to remain healthy in order for the country to get the needed human resource to drive the development agenda of government.

The queen mother for the community Nana Konadu Kontie II, who was full of praises thanked the district Assembly and for that matter the government for the support.

The Head of the centre, Mr Paul Nsoh, speaking to the press after the ceremony said the equipment which consisted of microscope, mini analyzer, water bath, centrifuge and fridge will go a long way to improve the delivery of health care in the area.

He said the facility which records a minimum of 20-30 OPD cases daily can now easily diagnose patience without the struggle of travelling for laboratory services elsewhere. According to Mr. Nsoh, the centre at its current state can now diagnose patients for malaria, HB, typhoid, RBC, WBC, HIV, Widal test Ketones, Kidney infections and prostate cancer.

He said laboratory facilities play a crucial role in the delivery of quality health care since doctors and for that matter health experts depend on laboratory results to make clinical decisions about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Hitherto, residents had to struggle from Abomosu to Enjiresi Government hospital to seek laboratory services.
