MCE supports PWDs with cash, items

About 50 of persons living with disability in the Jomoro Municipality have received monetary assistance ranging from GHC 1,000 to GHC2,000 as part of strategies to enable them to undertake productive ventures and to make them self-reliant.

The items presented to them include, sewing machuine, bags of rice, hair dressers salon equipments and refrigerators.

The Municipal Chief Executive Louisa Iris Arde was grateful to the president for increasing the Disability Fund from two percent to three percent and also appreciated the social welfare department for selecting the right beneficiaries devoid of politics.

She said it is government top priority to keep extending support to persons living with disability to alleviate their predicament.

The MCE entreated the beneficiaries to try to invest the money into productive ventures to help uplift their standards of living and welfare in the society.

She therefore pleaded with everyone not to discriminate against them, but embrace them.
