According to chief, looking at the loads of social and infrastructure programmes and projects including the ongoing construction of a police station and six units classroom blocks in Tuba initiated by the current MCE, he will be the last person to protest the second term re-appointment of Mr Nyarni by President Akufo-Addo.
Nene Tetteh Ibrahim made this statement while debunking a report on Ghanaweb.com to the effect that he was among some traditional office holders in the area appealing to President Akufo-Addo to appoint the Domibra-Obom Constituency Chairman, Mr Paul Baako, as the new MCE.
According to those traditional office holders, the incumbent MCE has woefully failed to represent the government of President Akufo-Addo in Ga South Municipal Assembly, and rather made the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government unpopular because he has failed to deliver to the expectation of the constituents.
The chiefs, with diverse professional backgrounds within all the towns of the traditional areas, led by the Chief of Tuba, Nene Tetteh Ibrahim, Bortianor Kingmaker, Nii Akotey IV, Shipii Kwei Mensah IÌI, Nii Adotenhene III are protesting the re-appointment of Mr Nyarni as the MCE for Ga South.
They lashed out at Mr Nyarni for what they described as his gross insubordination and insolence attitude and his neglect of traditional office holders within the municipality.
It is along this line that the chiefs are calling on President Akufo-Addo not to re-appoint their “poorly” performed MCE.
According to them, Ga South has not only become stunted and retarded in development, but a testimony of incompetence, visionless, disrespectful and an arrogant political controller.
They maintained that any extension of Mr Nyarni’s tenure would not only be regrettable but an inedible misfortune.
They disclosed to the media that the MCE had not only poorly performed but continuously demonstrated gross insolence and bossiness towards the traditional leaders and other stakeholders.
They said most problems in the municipality remained unattended to and therefore, called on the President to kindly ensure that Mr Nyarni was not re-appointed.
“We are preparing to submit our petition to the appropriate offices for the removal of the incumbent MCE.
…We are saying that Mr Nyarni is not approachable at all. And that his continuous stay in office will hurt the interest of the people in the near future. Mr Nyarni must go! Yes he must go!
“We want somebody like the affable Ga South NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr Paul Baako, who we believe can pursue the government’s agenda of massive development at the local level,” they recommended.
Consequently, the chiefs have thrown their weight behind Mr Baako to be appointed by the President as the MCE of Ga South.
According to the chiefs, they have known Mr Baako for a very longtime and hope, if given the nod, can work with them because of his humility and good human relations status.
But reacting to the above publication in an interview on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at his palace in Tuba, Nene Tetteh Ibrahim stated that the choice of words used in the publication were not the true reflection in his earlier statement he made.
According to him, sometime ago some two gentlemen who were believed to be medical practitioners came to him at his place at Tuba and informed him that they were doing story with regard to the appointment of a new MCE for Ga South Municipal Assembly.
Flanked by a former Assembly of Tuba Electoral Area, Mr Abdul Karim and Public Relations Officer of Tuba, Nene Shiabu Tetteh Ibrahim, indicated that the two media personalities told him that “this time round they wanted the MCE’s position to be given to Mr Paul Baako.
Continuing, Tetteh Nene noted that the two men then asked him that being the chief of Tuba what was his position regarding their decision to rally behind Mr Baako to become the next MCE of the Ga South Municipality?
He asserted that it was then that “l said to them that if Mr Paul Baako becomes the next MCE, he may like it.
“And also made the statement to the effect that the incumbent MCE has refused to turn up for a meeting they arranged. That is what l said.”
“But l didn’t make such statements against the incumbent MCE that he is an autocratic, not submissive, disrespectful and has poor human relations, as captured in the Ghanaweb report.
To this end, he called on the two personalities to retract the story and render an apology to the MCE and to him for misquoting him.
