This is part of its efforts to address inadequate school infrastructure challenges.
Mr. Duogu Yakubu, Wa Municipal Chief Executive, said the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the District Development Fund (DDF), District Wide Assistance Programme (DWAP) and the United Children's Fund (UNICEF) provided money for the projects.
He said the Municipal Assembly had also spent more of its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to provide some of the projects, the lack of which had been identified as a bane to educational development in the municipality.
Mr Yakubu said this when he inaugurated a six-unit classroom block and a kindergarten at Charia in the Wa Municipality at a cost of 188,104 Ghana Cedis.
He said part of the money would be used to provide furniture.
Mr Yakubu said the completion of the project and many others had shown government's commitment to provide the infrastructure needs of basic schools as well as all other development projects.
Mr. Yakubu said since last year, the Wa Municipal Assembly made a comprehensive assessment of its development programmes and had identified critical development gaps in education, health, water and sanitation, energy and roads construction.
The inadequacies in the provision of these facilities had impacted negatively on effective service delivery in the municipality, prompting the assembly to collaborate with GETFund, DDF, DWAP and UNICEF to undertake some projects.
These include the construction of three-unit classroom blocks and ancillary facilities at Piisi, Charingu, Konjiehi, Kadoli and Wa Model Primary Schools in the municipality at a cost of 262,783.00 Ghana cedis.
Mr. Yakubu said 81,371.00 Ghana cedis had been provided for the construction of two-unit Day Care Centre for some schools.
He said the Nakori, Guli, Kpongu and Wa-Sombo communities whose schools were organizing classes under trees had been provided with classroom blocks on the "Schools Under Trees" and Basic Schools Rehabilitation programmes.
Mr. Yakubu said the Wa Senior High Technical School, the Ahmadiyya Senior High School and the Islamic Senior High School were all benefiting from Getfund-supported package of six unit classroom blocks to be completed before the end of this academic year.
Mr. Yakubu said the government had provided 2,000 school uniforms and 298,890 exercise books for distribution to school children in the municipality.
