The Upper West Regional Secretariat of the National Youth Authority, in collaboration with the Wa Municipal division of the Ghana Education Service, organised the orientation for the 2,179 candidates, on how to study for success and how to choose their future careers and programmes at the Senior High School (SHS), as well as a general overview what they should expect at Senior High Schools.

Mr. Mumuni Sulemana, Regional Director of the National Youth Authority noted that, standards at the basic levels had fallen over the years and the programme was to help guide candidates to learn, and urged the students to take their studies serious to enable them to achieve higher educational laurels.

He said pre“SHS classes would be organised for the pupils at no cost after the BECE in the four core subjects to prepare and called on Members of Parliament (MP’s) in the region to invest in the education of their people since most of them were underprivileged and cannot afford the cost involved.

Junior High Schools from Wa Doblie, Sawaba, Tendamba, and Mangu circuits participated in the guidance and counselling program.
