Unlike in the 2015 ranking where Kpando Municipal Assembly was ranked in the high category, none of the assemblies in the region made the 65% and above mark to be ranked high. Kpando though still placing first in the region only managed 64.2% mark slightly
below the 65% mark. This represents a drop in the 2015 performance of 65.6.
Worrying still is the fact that as many as eight assemblies including Nkwanta North, Nkwanta South, Krachi Nchumuru, Krachi East, Afadzato South, Adaklu, North Tongu and Akatsi South all scored less than 50% and have fallen into the low ranking category. The Volta Region scored the lowest points on the 2016 District League Table with poor records in all the indicators; sanitation, health, rural water, education, security and governance.
The performance ranking which is carried out by Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) – Ghana in collaboration with UNICEF is a tool for strengthening social accountability between the state and its citizens for development.
Unlike other performance ratings like FOAT which dwells on administrative compliance, DTL based performance on the assemblies’ delivery in six key sectors: health, education, sanitation, water, security and governance which are considered basic to ensuring human development.
