Items include such as Gas oven, Gas Cylinder, Cosmetics, provisions, deep freezers, sewing machines, and many more, were procured with the three per cent allocation of the Assembly’s common fund for PWDs and distributed to them to enhance livelihoods.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Madam Faustina Amissah called on the beneficiaries to properly utilize the items to ensure the objectives of disbursement are fully realized.
She said the government through the Assembly is fully committed to empowering Ghanaians regardless of their circumstances in life and would assure that the Assembly continues to adopt intensive monitoring exercise to ensure that the items and the cash received were used judiciously.
Mr. Godwin Bansah, Director of the Department of Social Welfare Unit, said the gesture is part of measures put in place by the Assembly and Government to prevent Persons with Disabilities from begging on the streets.
He added that the intervention is meant to make PWDs self-sufficient and to empower them to contribute meaningfully to societal and national development.
