Most communities have designated waste collection points; however, the district currently lacks a permanent engineered final disposal site for solid waste management. This has created operational challenges in ensuring proper and sustainable waste disposal.

The absence of a final disposal site continues to affect environmental sanitation efforts, with concerns over waste accumulation and its potential impact on public health and the environment.

In response, the District Assembly has outlined plans in its budget to address the situation through the acquisition of land for the establishment of a final waste disposal site. The initiative also includes periodic fumigation of existing waste sites to improve sanitation conditions and reduce health risks.

The Assembly’s intervention is expected to strengthen solid waste management systems, improve environmental cleanliness, and enhance public health outcomes across the district.

Residents have been encouraged to support sanitation efforts by adhering to proper waste disposal practices and cooperating with sanitation authorities to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.
