Speaking at the sidelines of a town hall meeting held at the Chief Imam Conference Hall in Kawukudi, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, emphasized the urgent need to educate young people about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

“We are embarking on a sensitization within the municipality, so we are liaising with our community chiefs and an organization called Nima-First Foundation to go into the communities to preach drug abuse”, he stated.

He stated that the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote community health, safety, and youth development.

The campaign will involve community outreach programs, school engagements, and partnerships with religious and traditional leaders to raise awareness and provide support systems for the youth.

He called on them to take advantage of the government’s youth support initiatives like the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), an initiative aimed at equipping youth with practical, employable skills and reducing youth unemployment.
