The Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta in his first budget statement in Parliament announced 456 million cedis and 94 million cedis for the one district-one factory and one-village one dam policies respectively.

The budget allocation for these two policies though are in fulfilment of the NPP’s campaign promise to the people of Ghana, they are seen to be a major catalyst to accelerating economic development in the districts.

The one district-one factory policies is to help identify and develop potentials of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies. Through this, more jobs would be created to absorb a lot of the unemployed youth in those areas.

Since the government has also indicated its resolve to use agriculture to turn the economy around with the introduction of a number of initiatives in the agriculture sector like the “Planting for Food and Jobs" initiative, the construction of dams would help boost all year agriculture production and ensure food security in the country.
