Yilo Krobo Assembly fails to elect Presiding Member

The Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, failed to elect a Presiding Member after two rounds of voting after the inauguration of the Assembly Members into office at Somanya.

The next round of election has been scheduled to come off after 14 days.

The two nominees for the position failed to obtain the required votes to qualify for the position after two rounds of voting.

Mr Wisdom Apeasah, an educationist, polled 35 votes in the first ballot, and 38 in the second ballot whiles Mr Ebenezer Teye Nartey, a businessman had 27 in the first ballot and 24 in the second ballot out of the 62 votes cast.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of members earlier, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Andrews Sodah, reminded them that in the performance of their duties, they must consider first the national interest.

The President inaugural address was read by the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere.

The 62-member assembly, made up of 18 appointees and 44 elected members, were sworn into office by the Municipal Magistrate, Mrs Grace Gunugu.
