Ministry of Finance launches Citizens’ budget in Atiwa

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has launched the 2018 citizens Budget at Anyinam in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region with a clarion call on the general public to support government in the implementation of its policies and initiatives contained in the budget.

The document prepared with the citizens in mind has been simplified and translated into six languages to make sure every Ghanaian understood the key public Finance information and initiatives government intends to roll out in 2018.

Mr Ken Ofori Atta, the Minister for finance and Economic planning, in a speech read on his behalf by the deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in charge of budget, Mrs. Abena Osei Asare, said the main objective of the launch was to promote the understanding of the budget process and crave citizen participation in the development agenda of government.




She said government had kept faith with Ghanaians and was on course in achieving all the numerous promises they made prior to the 2016 general elections and further enumerated the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, the end to dumsor, payment of teacher and nursing training allowance, and the cut of nuisance taxes as the some of the achievements of the Government.



She indicated that since the NPP government assumed office effort had been made to enhance the economy and improve the living conditions of Ghanaians and expressed the hope that the 2018 budget was to turn the economy around for the good of all Ghanaians.

The District Chief Executive for Atiwa, Mr. Kwabena Panin Nkansah, in his welcome address commended the government for capturing some of the poor roads in the district as part of the roads to be upgraded in 2018 budget.




The launching was graced by prominent personalities such as H.E General J.B Dankwa council of state member, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Eric Kwakye Daffour, Osabarima Kwame Tia II chief of Akyem Adasawase and acting Gyaase of the Akyem Abuakwa traditional Area.
