Madam Carboo said the pieces of furniture donated were procured through D-PAT VI funds while expressing gratitude to the various stakeholders who made the donation possible.

She urged the Education Directorate to ensure the distribution of desks to schools that needed them most and also called on all to work together to build a brighter future for the children.

Madam Roselyn Kafui Ofori, Biakoye District Education Director, received the desks and expressed gratitude to the DCE and the government for their support.

She said the Directorate continued to receive the necessary support from the DCE which was commendable, and the Directorate remained grateful.

Madam Ofori said the Directorate would ensure the distribution to schools that needed the desks most while ensuring that an effective maintenance culture was practised for the durability of the furniture.

At Nkonya Bumbula, the DCE, the District Education Director with staff marked “My First Day at School” with Kindergarten One and Primary One learners from the Nkonya Bumbula E.P and Bumbula R.C Schools.

Madam Ofori said building the knowledgebase of learners at the kindergarten and primary levels was important.

She said Kindergarten teachers needed to be strong and vibrant so that learners would be more prepared before entering Basic One.

Madam Ofori said though there was deficit in Kindergartens including furniture for teachers and learners, the responses by the Assembly to educational needs showed that very soon, those issues would be tackled.

Madam Carboo noted that the Day was marked to welcome learners and also encourage them to stay in school.

She urged the learners to pay attention to their teachers, adding that it was only through education that they would become great individuals in the future.
