The residents have taken the self-initiative to open roads within the community to ease vehicular movement in the area.

The people, through their contributions, have extended electricity and water to the community and have taken it upon themselves to open roads in the area.

Mr. Thomas Barka Tanibe, a resident in an interview said they had appealed to the leadership of the Wa Municipality and benevolent institutions and individuals to come to their aid by supporting them to reshape the newly opened roads.

“We have seen that the place is developed but there is no single road from the main Wa-Dorimon road entering the community.

“We realised that with the way things are moving, we need to help ourselves by contributing to opening the roads before we can appeal for support. We are now appealing to any God-fearing person or institution to help us.

Where we have gotten to, we are stranded, so, anyone, especially the Municipal Assembly and politicians, the Wa Central MP, and the Speaker of Parliament have to pity us and help us work on the road,” he explained.

He said they had written a letter to the Wa Municipal Assembly for support, but the help was not forthcoming.

Mr. Tanibe added that they were now financially exhausted due to the many self-initiated interventions they had embarked on for the community and needed external support.

Talking about the electricity, he indicated that the community contributed and procured electricity poles and wires and hired a contractor to work on it.

“After we wired the community, we were asked to pay money for the meters. We spent over GH?4,000.00 each before we could get lights in our houses”, he explained.

Mr. Tanibe added that they also contributed and extended water from Ghana Water Limited to the area to ease the difficulties they went through to access clean and safe drinking in the community.

“What is now worrying us is the road. We are pleading for help. We have done our part as a community, what we need now is external assistance to complete what we have started,” he stressed.

Mr. Abubakari Seidu, the Assembly Member for Sombo Electoral Area in the Wa Municipality, commended the people for the initiative and appealed for support to help them complete the project.

He also appealed for streetlight bulbs for the community to help improve security in the area following the serial killings recorded in Wa in recent times.
