Asutifi South Assembly secures land for new factory under 1D1F

A 790-Acre of Land has been acquired by the Asutifi South at Acherensua, a community in the district for the establishment of vegetable processing company and the rearing of ostrich under the One District, One Factory flagship initiative.

In addition, the assembly is also set to revamp the Asutifi Processing Company by connecting it to a ginger processing companies in Nkawkaw to support with inputs and other resources.

Disclosing this at the Assembly’s maiden “Meet the Press” programme, District Chief Executive of the area, Mr Dwomoh Mensah Robert noted that plans are far advanced for the commencement of the new factory, adding that it forms part of government’s policy to establish factories in every district of the country to help create jobs and foreign income.

Further touching on job creation, the DCE revealed that the NPP government has performed well in the past few of assuming power, as hundreds in the area have been employed under various youth employment programmes.

He continued that the Assembly has employed about 141 youth in modules such as Community Protection Agency, Youth in Sanitation and Youth in Sports as part of measures to reduce the rate of unemployment in the area.

He added that government has also recruited 482, 737 and 125 persons under the cocoa pollination, cocoa mass spraying and afforestation programme respectively.


Under Planting for Export and Rural Development, the DCE again revealed that the Assembly has distributed about 15,000 G8 coconut seedlings to 462 farmers in the area for cultivation.

He explained that the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) Programme is a decentralized National Tree Crop Programme that is aimed at promoting rural economic growth and improve household incomes of rural farmers through the provision of certified improved seedlings, extension services, business support and regulatory mechanisms.

The programme, he added also seeks to create sustainable raw material base to spur up the decentralized industrialization drive through One District Factory initiative.
