ASSIN S: Goodwill message from DCE on the occasion of 2018 Easter celebration

I congratulate our Christian brothers and sisters on the celebration of this year’s Easter.

Date Created : 3/31/2018 9:48:30 AM : Story Author : Ghanadistricts.com

I rejoice with you on this historic occasion signifying the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, redemption over condemnation, and hope over despair.

The commemoration of this special season in Christianity, is always preceded by fasting, humility, and prayers of intercession in the build up to the death of Jesus Christ on Good Friday, an event which reunited man with his Creator.

The message of Easter is filled with themes of love, faith, sacrifice, dedication, commitment, fulfilment of prophecy, hope, expectation and victory, as espoused in the Scriptures and the teachings and lifestyle of Jesus Christ.

As we celebrate yet another Easter, I urge all residents of Assinman to live peacefully with one another and do their utmost to make Assinman a beautiful place to reside.

In the almost one-and-a-half years of the NPP administration led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, we have worked hard to meet the expectations of all Ghanaians particularly the people of Assinman, by improving Healthcare delivery, Agriculture, Security and Education.

We are determined as never before to continue to improve the standard of living of our people. We have improved significantly the road networks in the District especially the feeder roads and we are determined to do more. We have also expanded the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty [LEAP] programme to cover 30 more communities as we continue the fight against eliminating poverty in our District. We will continue the fight until all the communities are covered.

It is in our collective interest to support the government to succeed because without your support, no meaningful and sustainable development can take place.

I wish to reiterate government's announcement on the 50% payment of fees of final year students of Senior High Schools. This will go a long way to reduce financial burdens on parents whose wards will be completing SHS this academic year.

Our people must rediscover the values of peaceful co-existence, religious tolerance and patriotism. It is only when we do all of these that we can make Assinman a better place for all of us.

I enjoin all of us to keep faith in the determination and ability of the NPP administration to change the Assinman story for the good of all.

I am thankful to Nananom, the member of parliament for Assin South Constituency, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Presiding Member, Hon. Assembly members, our men and women of the security forces who put there lives on the line to protect lives and properties, Civil Society Organizations, our religious leaders, the media, Heads of Department and the entire people of Assin, for your support, cooperation and good counsel over the period in the realisation of the vision and mission of Assin South District Assembly.

I wish you all a happy Easter celebrations.

Hon. Derick Owusu-Ambrose
DCE, Assin South District Assembly
