Owing to the carving out of the Anloga District out of the Keta Municipal Assembly, the old fire station which served the municipality has now been carved out into the newly inaugurated Anloga District, leaving the Keta Municipality with no fire station.

Upon assumption of office, Mr. Godwin Edudzi Effah, the Municipal Chief Executive, realized, among others, the need to quickly allocate a place for a new fire station.

Upon several consultations with stakeholders, the MCE on Friday, May 17, 2019, led a team of officers from the Ghana National Fire Service headquarters to the defunct PWD premises for an assessment of the facility. He announced the immediate start of renovation works to fit the facility for use as the Keta Municipality's fire station.

The facility, part of which currently houses the Ghana Highway Authority, has been accepted by the team from the National Fire Service headquarters.

The MCE acknowledged the stakeholders for helping the process which arrived at the suitable choice and strategic location for rapid response by the Fire Service during emergencies. He noted also that all other necessary facilitations have been made awaiting the renovation of the facility.

"Well, the facility is suitable and quiet strategic for the work. But as to when we shall resume work here, it left to the Assembly to finish with the renovation work quickly, which the MCE has promised to ensure", Deputy Chief Fire Officer in charge of Logistics, Mr. Samuel Brenya said.

The MCE also noted that the allocation of the building is necessitated by the creation of the Anloga District Assembly, which now owns the old fire station. He added that the renovation works on the building would be completed by the end of June for handing over.

"We had a fire station which is now located within the newly created Anloga District Assembly. Owing to this, there is the need that Keta Municipal Assembly gets its own fire station. I can assure you that the renovation works on the building would be completed by the end of June for handing over to the Ghana National Fire Service", the MCE said.
