Assembly members urged to keep touch with the people as new Assembly is inaugurated

The Birim Central Municipal Assembly has inaugurated the newly elected Assembly Members, Government Appointees, and Unit Committee Members for the Assembly at the forecourt the assembly.

A total of 18 elected assembly members, were sworn into office by the Magistrate of the Akyem Oda Magistrate Court, Her Worship, Adline Owusu Asante through the administration of the oath of office and secrecy.

The President’s representative the Minister for Roads and highways, Mr. Kwasi Amoako Atta congratulated Members and charged them to take advantage of mechanism and other innovative systems developed by the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry to improve upon Internally Generated Funds (IGF).

He reminded them to stick to their core mandate as Assembly Members and work within the remits of the law as provided in the Local Governance Act, (ACT 936) of 2016 with Amendment (ACT 940).

He further mentioned that the District Assembly concept was non-partisan and urged members to remain cautious in the discharge of their duties.

Good governance, he added entails active participation of the citizens in their Assembly to ensure the delivery of quality services, improved infrastructure, and good leadership.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Birim Central Municipal Assembly, Mrs. Victoria Adu Badu stressed the need for members to work together and tap from the rich experiences of old Assembly Members to ensure that, together they build a strong Assembly for the people.

She advised members to develop a culture of selflessness, loyalty, and dedication to contribute to the development of the Municipality and Ghana as a whole.
