This instability causes disruptions in water supply, shutting down pipes for up to two weeks until the water levels stabilize.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Victoria Dzeklo the District Chief Executive of South Tongu Assembly explained that this annual challenge forces communities to go without water for extended periods.

To address this, the Government of Ghana has allocated funds to the assembly for water infrastructure development.

According to the MCE, the assembly plans to construct boreholes in various communities, institutions, and hospitals to serve as alternative water sources during supply interruptions. Kpotame, which currently lacks access to potable water, will be one of the main beneficiaries.

Other communities such as Vume, Tefle, Kpotame, and their surrounding areas are also set to benefit from the new boreholes.

The project is currently in the evaluation phase, with funding secured. Once evaluations are complete, construction work will begin to improve water accessibility in the district.
