The site engineer and the contractors took the team around for the inspection. Among facilities in the markets are lockable shops, stalls, restaurant, supermarket, crèche, police post, fire station, sick bay, wash rooms, butchers room and offices.

The team after the inspection and upon interaction with the contractors realized that the 17th December, 2021 deadline cannot be met and the contractors had, as a result, requested for extension to the first quarter of 2022.

The MCE commended the contractors and my predecessor John Kofi Donyina for such a wonderful project. He was, however, not happy with the missed timeline for the completion. He therefore entreated the contractors to endeavor to meet the new timeline. He assured them that the funding agency through the government had made funds readily available for the project for them to access anytime to facilitate their works.

Later in the afternoon, he visited members of the GARAGES Association at Techiman magazine for discussions introduced himself to them and acknowledged their contributions to the development of Techiman.

The group mentioned poor lighting, lack of refuse containers, poor road network, and improper valuation of their properties for tax purposes by the Assembly’s Revenue collectors among others as their challenges. They called on the MCE to intervene and resolve a conflict which exists between two groups at the Magazine.

They thanked him for the visit as they claimed it was the first time in history an MCE has visited them at their work place to listen to their concerns.
He assured them that the Assembly, together with our Member of Parliament Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah will team up to address the concerns raised. I thanked them for their reception and urged them not to hesitate to call on the Assembly when the need arises.
Present at the meeting were the Municipal Coordinating Director and Municipal Finance Officer.
