ATEBUBU: 1D1F National Coordinator visits AAPCL

The National Coordinator of the One District One Factory initiative, Mrs. Gifty Ohene Konadu has paid a working visit to the Amantin Agriculture Processing Company Limited AAPCL located at Akokoa in the Atebubu-Amantin district of the Brong Ahafo region.

According to her the visit was to assess the progress of work on the factory which is one of a few across the country to have received support from financial institutions to enable her brief President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appropriately.

Mrs. Konadu said as part of the mandate of her secretariat, they have received a number of business proposals which they have reviewed and forwarded to financial institutions for support and was hopeful that a few more will soon receive favorable responses from these institutions to make the government’s dream of creating employment for the youth a reality.

The visit saw various artisans erecting metal beams while others engaged in some concrete works to form the base of the main structure which will take about 7 months to complete.

The farm manager of AAPCL, Mr. Williams Kwaku Boateng told the Coordinator and her entourage which included the Atebubu-Amantin district Chief Executive Hon. Edward Owusu that part of machinery for the factory is already in.

He said the factory which has the production of ethanol and starch as it primary focus will employ about 12,000 people both directly and indirectly adding that in order to ensure an all year round production of the facility which can process about 1200 tons of cassava daily, his outfit is supporting about 1800 out growers to feed the factory.

Mr. Boateng took the Coordinator and his entourage on a tour of the company’s own 8000 acre cassava farm a sight which visibly excited the team.

He spoke about plans to further increase the company’s acreage, venture into piggery to take advantage of the chaff from the processed cassava as well as cattle rearing to ensure the leaves from harvested cassava do not go to waste.

Hon. Edward Owusu promised the assembly’s assistance to the company to ensure that the one district one factory initiative in the district becomes successful.
