1,059 candidates writes BECE in Nadowli-Kaleo District

District Chief Executive for Nadowli-Kaleo Hon.Katherine T.Lankono, on Monday toured the two examination centres for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the district.

A total of 1,059 candidates from various Junior High Schools in the district are taking part in the examinations at 2 centres at Kaleo Secondary Technical School and Queen of Peace secondary school.

The District Director of Education, Madam Mary Assumpta Mwinsigteng told the DCE that out of the 1,059,521 were boys while 538 were girls and no examination malpractice had been recorded.

The nationwide examination which started on Monday 4th June, 2018 will end on 8th June, 2018.



The district director, Mary Assumpta appealed to the invigilators to maintain the highest professional standard and to ensure impartiality for the successful completion of the test in the area.

The Hon.DCE in her admonishment said the students should avoid all forms of malpractice, which would create a bad image for themselves, their families, schools and the district.

The DCE told the candidates to avoid cheating at the examination and do independent work in order to become responsible adults and Presidents, and occupy key positions in future.



She said the government of Ghana under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is committed to providing quality and affordable education to all Ghanaians and it is base on this that the government has introduced the Free Senior High Policy.

“By free SHS, mean that in addition to tuition, which is already free, there will be no admission fees, no library fees, no science centre fees, no computer laboratory fees, no examination fees, no utility fees. There will be free textbooks, free boarding and free meals and day students will get a meal at school for free.



The assembly has also provided on hot meal for the candidates whiles they stay to write the exams to the end.

As at the time the DCE visited the examination centre at Kaleo Seconday Technical School,one girl was reported to have missed the English paper because she was at the hospital to put to birth.

But she has since returned to write the religious and moral education paper after she has successfully put to birth a baby girl.
