The donation ceremony was held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the forecourt of the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly, where beneficiaries received essential boarding items ahead of their transition from basic school to the second cycle level.

Each of the 200 beneficiaries received one mattress and one plastic chop box. The students, who were selected from basic schools within the municipality based on need, are expected to benefit from the intervention as they prepare to begin their SHS education.

The initiative forms part of efforts by the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly to support students from families facing financial challenges and ensure that a lack of basic boarding requirements does not become a barrier to accessing secondary education.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Eric Asibey said the intervention reflected his commitment to promoting quality education and supporting the government's Free Senior High School policy.

He emphasised that education remained a top priority for the Assembly, adding that the government was determined to remove barriers that could prevent children from progressing to the second cycle level.

According to him, providing the students with essential educational and boarding materials would help ease the pressure on parents and guardians while allowing the beneficiaries to concentrate on their studies.

The MCE urged the students to maintain good behaviour, respect school authorities and comply with the rules and regulations of their respective schools. He also cautioned them against social vices and encouraged them to remain focused on their academic work to justify the investment made in their education.

Hon. Asibey further called on parents and guardians to complement the government's efforts by providing proper parental guidance, monitoring their children's progress and encouraging them to take their studies seriously.

The Acting Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Clifford Budu Heneku, expressed gratitude to the MCE for his continued support for education in the municipality.

He noted that the provision of mattresses and chop boxes would help address some of the practical challenges students face when entering boarding schools and could contribute to improved enrolment and retention at the SHS level.

Some beneficiaries and parents who spoke after the ceremony also expressed appreciation to the MCE and the Assembly for the support, describing the donation as timely and helpful in reducing the cost of preparing students for senior high school.

The intervention highlights the importance of collaboration between local authorities, the education sector and families in ensuring that students have the necessary support to continue their education.

The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly is expected to continue working with relevant stakeholders to promote educational development and create opportunities for young people to progress academically, regardless of their families' financial circumstances.

Present at the ceremony was the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Adu Boateng, alongside other officials and stakeholders.
