Hohoe Municipal pledges to redeem indebtedness

Mr Victor-Hermann Condobrey, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, said his administration's topmost priority is to redeem the assembly's indebtedness totaling over 300,000 Ghana cedis left behind by the previous administration.

He said most of the debts were incurred through non-payment of counterpart funding of development projects including the European Union funded Community-Based Rural Development Project and the Community Water and Sanitation Agency that is specifically owed about 20,000 Ghana cedis.

Mr Condobrey told the GNA that the assembly was indebted to the Unit, Town and Area Councils to the tune of 50,000 Ghana cedis.

He said the assembly virtually owes business entities and there are seven cases pending against the assembly before the courts.

Mr Condobrey said he hoped to change the negative perception attached to the assembly.
