There was spontaneous jubilation amidst the sprinkling of powder when the counting of ballots exceeded the targeted number of 26(two-thirds of the vote).
This nearly marred the exercise as the Assembly members and the public present refused to take their seats to enable the District Electoral Officer to declare the results and it took several pleadings from the Presiding Member Mr. Daniel Hammond to bring the meeting to order.
His confirmation preceded the swearing in of eleven new Government Appointees for the Assembly, as the old ones were sacked when Mr. Dawson failed to get the two-thirds majority last Wednesday, July 10, as required by the District Assemblies Standing Orders (Articles 16, 1-10).
The DCE was sworn into office by Mr. Clement KwasiAsomah, Breman-Asikuma District Magistrate, who also oversees Ajumako.
Present were the Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Sarpong and his Deputy, Mrs. Queenstar Pokuaa Sawyerr and Dr.Yaw Korankye, Member of the Council of State.
Mr. Sarpong advised Assembly Members not to dabble in partisan politics at the expense of the development of their districts, adding that, there was the need to educate Assembly Members to know their core mandate and pursue it.
He urged the members to cooperate with the DCE to enable him to give of his best.
Mr. Dawson pledged to unite the people and mobilize them to work towards the development of the area.
